Shut Up, Hermine!!

Hola mis periquitos,
Can I tell you guys a little secret, a little something that makes me a tad bit upset?
Who am I kidding! I’m just redder than a pissed off turnip about all this durn-blasted rain coming through here. Here I am, sitting in my office on the tippy-top of the tower trying to read my fan mail, and all I can hear is that gol-dang “tip tip tap tippity tizzle tizzle farp farp farmukle KRRRRRAAACK BOOM BOOM POW!” It took me about 20 minutes to get through just one letter!
Finally, I just decided to write a letter for the Dean of Admissions to give to Hermine:

“Dear Hermine,
We disrespectfully decline your attempts to come and cause a ruckus over here at the fine learning establishment of The University of Texas at Austin. You just simply are too messy and definitely not quiet enough to come here. I mean really, I can’t even focus on John L. Hennessy’s flattering letter about how he loves my new boots with your rain all up in my business.

Sincerely,
The University of Texas at Austin
(p.s.- just so you know, John L. Hennessy’s the President of Stanford. I HATE YOU HURRICANE!)”
That’ll show this stupid rain monster! Maybe she’ll think twice before she comes bothering me again.

New Haircut and faculty laser tag night!!!

SG elections are next week and you know what that means… time for a HAIRCUT!

My barber, Rodney, came to my presidential suite today and cut my presidential hair (I sat really still so he gave me a lollipop at the end!). I love haircuts because everyone always says my hair looks really nice when I ask them what they think about it. The biggest lesson I’ve learned here at UT is that when you’re the president of something people like you more. That’s why I recommend that all the students at UT go be presidents of stuff. It’s the best!

What makes next week even better is that Monday night is faculty laser tag night!!! You see, this is a monthly thing I do to keep in touch with the members of the faculty council (and to kick some major behind in laser tag, of course). Its gonna be tons of fun and soooo much better than the lame meetings we usually have when we talk about boring stuff like the university budget and financial aid.

The rule is that only the President and members of faculty council can go, which means that VP Kev can’t come! It’s okay with me, but kinda awkward whenever I accidentally talk about laser tag in front of him. I’ll make him feel better by bringing him one of the cookies I bake for the faculty (if a certain rhetoric professor doesn’t eat them all again, lol!).

Anyways, I should go hit the hay…I’ve got a big week ahead of me! I’ll try to post haircut pix if I remember. Get ready for elections, everybody!! Woo hooo!!!

OMG ELECTION TIME IS HERE!!!

I sat in my office with VP Kev counting down the minutes and seconds until midnight when campaigning would start. I know some students look at student government as a waste of time, but for me it’s much more than that—student government elections mean I’m about to get a new BFF!

Keshav (or Kiki, as I like to call him, lol!) posted on his Facebook that he would be supporting Minotar and Justin for SG President and Vice President. Well, it didn’t take me more than a minute past midnight to “like” that!! (In case you don’t know, facebook is a social networking site on the web 2.0 where you can “like” things. It’s pretty complicated, so feel free to stop by my office if you need further explanation)

People keep thinking the only reason I like Justin and Minotar is because they were in the “Eyes of Texas.” But the truth is, they are just the coolest guys evaaaar! Last week Minotar and I played Halo 3 in my office for like four hours on X-Box Live. It reminded me of the wild times back when I was dean of the law school! (more like dean of the PARTY school!)

Anyway, it’s time for bed. I’m going to go make some chamomile tea for the missus and I. We like to end every evening by snuggling up on the couch and solving a few word jumbles.

Too much Tower drama!

Longest. Week. Ever.

This job is really starting to get to me. Do you ever have one of those days where you just want to shut out the world, go up to Mt. Bonnell, and read a good book? That’s how today was. One of my coworkers (I won’t use his name; let’s just call him “UT VP”) will not stop bugging me about the recent budget cuts. I know already! I’m really starting to get tired of people who are closest to me thinking it’s OK to question the policies I approve of. I know I’m not the most outspoken person in the world, but come on…I deserve a little respect, right? I mean, the last time I checked, I’m the darn president around here, not the “UT VP.”

I don’t know, though. Maybe I’m just being too hard on the guy. He is right; we do need to reconsider the things that are getting cut around here. I just wish people could be a little nicer to me when I make a tough decision, that’s all. It seems like no matter what I do, someone thinks I’m being the jerk. Last month, when I decided to give one of my employees (we’ll call him “Coach”) a pay raise, everyone got all pissed at me. Honestly, I’m not trying to be the bad guy, but “Coach” is a really good guy and he wins a lot of games.

By the way, I went to get a drink at the Cactus Cafe today, and it was so awkward. When I walked in and said, “Boy, I wonder if I can keep my glass as a souvenir,” everyone gave me mean looks. It was just a joke, guys, come on!

I don’t like mean people : -(

I’m hoping things at work get better soon. But if they don’t, I just got the entire series of Friends on DVD to cheer me up. That Chandler just gets me!
